Small Group Leaders Away Day

The Small Group Leaders went away for an away day recently. For some reason they spent some of their time looking down at the ground!!

CANDLELIT SERVICE

FINDLAY CHURCH CANDLELIT SERVICE: SUNDAY 16TH DECEMBER

Almost 500 folk enjoyed the atmosphere of the Candlelit Service as we celebrated Jesus' birth in Song, Music pieces, Drama, Readings and Christmas Carol Singing. Just the way to start Chrismas properly. £1400 was raised for "Dwelling Places" who work in Kampala, Uganda with street children.

Christmas decorations are up in the streets and selection boxes in the aisles already!

It will not be long till the Christmas Concerts start - in just over 4 weeks time in fact! Celebrate Christmas with The New Scottish Choir & Orchestra on the 1st of December - well before the last minute shopping fever distracts us all!

As the title hints - there will be more "classic" items by Rutter, Chillcott and others, plus an opportunity to join in the traditional carols.

Iain McLarty, currently studying music (and maths) at Edinburgh University will be conducting this event. Our soloists are Sheila Montgomery and Terence Ayebare who is studying at The Royal Northern College of Music.

Last year's concert at Findlay was a sell out - so make sure you get your tickets soon!

3 Wisemen and a Baby

Saltmine Theatre Company

at Findlay Memorial Church Glasgow

for their performance of

‘Three Wise Men and a Baby’.

On Saturday 8^th December

Those who attended the event had a good laugh but also got the point about the real Christmas!!

New Church Frontage

The new frontage and entrance was officially opened on Sat 20th Oct with an open day for the Community to have a look what was behind the OLD RED DOORS. Passers by can now see right through the glass doors and up to the main church - something which has been largely hidden for 100 years. A BBQ was held outside and the cafe open for visitors. The band played and there were displays of some of the Church activities. The adjoining shop has been leasd by the Church and will become Community rooms and offices sometime early next year.

Taste and See - Church Open Day

We would like to invite YOU, to come along and take a closer look at what used to be behind those 'BIG RED DOORS'. Come and join us for a bite to eat (BBQ), cup of tea or coffee in the Café and a chat about what goes on in the Church. There will be lots of information on all the activities that go on in the church, including our community project Findlay Family Network. There will be fun things for the kids – so bring them along.

STUDENTS ARE WELCOME

We are delighted to offer our services to students from around the city.

Leaving home can be exciting, daunting, challenging and fun all at the same time. One of the most important things is to find a Church which will offer fellowship, teaching, care and friendship. There are a number of Churches in Glasgow who cater for Students and offer these opportunities, and we are one of them - close to Murano Street Village, and other residences.

You will be assured of a good welcome at Findlay where you will meet many other students from your place of study. Everett Julyan is our Student Co-ordinator.

Peter joins the Minstry Team at Findlay

Peter Collison has joined the Ministry Team at Findlay Memorial Church, as Assistant Pastor with particular responsibilty for the development of Small Groups. Peter, Liz and baby Beth started at Findlay on 1st October 2007.

The Commisioning service was held on Sunday evening 14th Oct 2007 with a good number attending including friends from St John's Church in Linlithgow.

African Childrens Choir

The World famous African Childrens Choir performed at Findlay on Sunday 09/09/07. Their infectious music and faces were a delight to those who come along. The choir from South Africa gave an energetic performance, being their last in the current tour before returning home.
